With the constant (and very necessary) daily wearing of face masks, your skin can suffer from inflammation, blocked pores, dryness or oilyness and irritation! We have put together a few tips to help soothe your ‘maskne’ and products for you to manage your skin care routine.

1. Wash your face as soon as you get in from work or after prolonged mask wearing

Regular and gentle cleansing of your face is paramount to keeping bacteria at bay, which would otherwise cause nasty breakouts. Especially more so when wearing a mask, which naturally creates a warm and moist atmosphere next to your skin- the perfect breeding ground for those spot causing bacteria! We love the Decléor Rosemary Officianalis Cleansing gel 100ml £33, which is a gentle foaming wash that contains anti bacterial Rosemary essential oil and Black Clay to clean and clear blemish prone skin.

2. Wear a fresh mask everyday and wash them after each use

Wear either a cotton or silk mask which is kindest to your skin.  Wearing a dirty mask will spread any germs that are lingering on it, back on to your skin!

3. Try products with Salicylic acid

This wonder ingredient is the best tool against blocked pores and congested skin. Not only does it exfoliate but also reduces oil secretions and reduces inflammation! We suggest using our DermaQuest DermaClear Pads, £32 for 50 pads. Use 2 – 3 times a week over the effected area to see a reduction in redness and spots.

4. Use soothing products for your skin

To aid with healing and to soothe red and irritated skin, use products that repair the skins barrier and keep it moisturised. We love the Decléor Rosemary Officianalis Night Balm 15ml £46 which is has anti bacterial properties, balances oil within the skin and promotes healing overnight. For a day time barrier, the Decléor Organic Rose Damascena Day Soothing Cream and Mask 30ml £55 is a calming and anti inflammatory moisturiser. It can also be applied as a thicker layer to the skin for a healing mask, where you can allow the product to be absorbed into the skin to work its magic!

5. Wear a face mask – one of the skin care kind!

For oily and congested skin we love a good clay mask! Decléor have an amazing Rosemary Officianalis Black Clay Mask 50ml £34, which is full of Black Clay to purify the skin and Salicylic acid which reduces oil. After being left on for 10 minutes and rinsed off, it leaves your skin with a matte yet hydrated appearance and your face is left brighter and detoxed!
